After a few weeks in PTR launch, Sigma is now finally live in Overwatch along with Role Queue which is a new system to make the game more fair and fun.
Here’s the detail shared via press release:
Who is Sigma?
Get ready for a gravitational pull like no other – Sigma has arrived!
The 31st Overwatch hero, Sigma is a kind and brilliant scientist who has been irreparably changed by an experiment gone wrong, gaining the ability to manipulate gravity in the process. During that tragic experiment Sigma sustained serious psychological damage, deemed a threat to humanity and locked away for years in a secret government facility. He was eventually freed by Talon and used as a living weapon. Sigma is now live on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
Sigma will shield you from harm, but apply enough force and he shall apply it back!
With Role Queue, we’re updating the matchmaking and queuing systems in Competitive Play and Quick Play so that players choose which role they want to play—tank, support, or damage—before a match even begins. The matchmaking system will then match two tanks, two supports, and two damage heroes to create a team, and upon entering match, players will select heroes within their chosen roles.
At the end of a match (in both Competitive Play and Quick Play), players will return to the main menu and select their role before queuing for the next game.
In addition to the new contents, Blizzard has also announced that Overwatch Sigma Southeast Asia Tournament registration is now open!
The tournament will come with the prize pool of US$2,500. The top team will receive six Overwatch Collector’s Editions on top of cash prize. A special twist to this community tournament is that Sigma is a required on each team in celebration Sigma joining Overwatch, so don’t miss this chance to showoff your Sigma skills and may the best Sigma player win! Overwatch is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Battle.net.
